Deepika Padukone’s re-created ‘Raabta’ song disappoints, is she not cut out for item numbers?
There were high expectations from Deepika’s ‘Raabta’ special song (its an item song after all), but the act seems to have fallen flat, and its not only Deepika to be blamed , even Pritam’s treatment of the song is less than impressive.

The last time Deepika danced to a track re-created (say remixed) by Pritam was on R.D Burman’s iconic song Dum Maro Dum. Even in that case, Pritam’s tune was not impessive, and Deepika’s performance followed suit (although that song did better than this Raabta song).

So that brings us to the question, should Deepika really be doing item numbers?
Or rather, should she be doing a special song just because she shares a good rapport with some director (or was it the money)?
Remember Katrina Kaif’s Chikni Chameli, or Priyanka Chopras ‘Ram Chahe Leela’ songs? Or even Deepika’s own ‘Lovely’ Song from Happy New Year?

If you’re among the top Bollywood heroine’s you rather do something like these songs, or don’t do it.
After being Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s heroine in Ram Leela, Bajirao Mastani (and forthcoming Padmavati), I guess its high time Deepika Padukone takes a stand and stop doing average item songs, or for that matter, be Vin Diesel’s sidekick (just because its a Hollywood movie).
