Nawazuddin Siddiqui says says the industry cannot thrive on films where hero-heroine dance around trees. Bollywood needs to make more realistic films in order to be taken seriously by world cinema.

After years of struggle, Nawazuddin Siddiqui is enjoying his place in the sun. He has worked with the big Khans, and despite the several big offers, Nawazuddin stays grounded. In fact, he charged nothing for one of his upcoming movies.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui gets candid about films and world cinema.

Nawazuddin says India has to make more realistic films or world cinema won’t take us seriously. Internationally, our films are known for dance, drama, music and that, they (global audiences) take lightly. How long will we keep making films where hero-heroine is dancing around trees?

Nawazuddin says negativity and positivity exists in all of us. Characters like ‘Raman Raghav 2.0’ are real life characters, and such people exist in our society. “Showing Real life characters in films creates awareness among the audience. “Nawaz and everyone on the project worked on minimal money or no money at all. Ours is a passion project and we did everything we could to get the film made. Nawaz loved the script and insisted to work pro bono on the film understanding the limitations of the budget overall. He was sweet to only charge Rupee 1 from us literally as a token of his efforts. Nawazuddin Siddiqui to Play Pyscho Raman Raghav

Nawazuddin is all set to play the dreaded serial killer ‘Pyscho Raman Raghav’ in his upcoming film to be directed by Anurag Kashyap. This is based on the true story of Raman Raghav who would mercilessly butcher men & women sleeping on the pavement, at night. The psycho would operate only on the streets of Mumbai.

Raman Raghav was a poor homeless man, and almost all his victims were poor as well. His modus operandi was simple, he would kill his victims when they were sleeping, by hitting them with a hard and blunt object. What raised the police’s concern was that the killings were not for any materialistic gain. Sadly, Raghav had been picked up by the police earlier, but allowed to go for lack of evidence.

Rumors has it that Ayushmann Khurrana (of Vicky Donor’s fame) could be playing the role of Ramakant Kulkarni, the then Deputy Commissioner of Police – CID (Crime) who eventually caught Raman. However, Ayushmann Khurrana has not confirmed the report yet.
