Salman Khan, Bollywood’s Answer to Rajinikanth, Admits ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ Cannot Match ‘Baahubali’s Box Office Success

Is Salman Khan Bollywood's Answer to Rajinikanth? Salman’s fortunes did a U-turn post ‘Wanted’, and since then, almost everything that he has touched has turned gold. Because of the series of hits that followed thereafter, Salman Khan has often been referred to as the Rajnikanth of Bollywood.

The makers of Salman’s upcoming movie ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ probably didn’t anticipate the massive success of Rajamouli’s ‘Baahubali’ but it seems the success of Baahubali will have some impact on the box office collections of ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’. Many, especially those who’re not from South India, are eager to watch the blockbuster because of the massive interest ‘Bahubali’ has generated through world of mouth (and also by media).

Even Salman Khan acknowledges that Baahubali is a good film and wants Bollywood to try to match its success. “We don’t think we can do that much like (Baahubali jitna toh nahi kar payegi). Of course it (box office) scares me,” Salman said when asked if box office numbers scare him, considering the recent business that Baahubali did and that his upcoming movie ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ is lined up next for release.

No doubt he’s got a huge fan following, but more than that, Salman seems to have the ability to make a blockbuster out of a film with virtually no script at all.

That’s the reason this question pops up every time his movie is released (first ‘Jai Ho’ and now ‘Kick’). Can Salman Khan be the next Rajinikanth in Bollywood?

So if he really Bollywood’s answer to Rajini Sir?

When asked this question in an an interview, Sallu preferred to play it down, and said that it will take him another 20 years to reach near to what Rajini Sir has achieved. He also added that he would be happier if he comes even closer to him, as a person.

“I do not consider myself that way (Rajinikanth of Bollywood). As a person, if I come close to him, I would be really happy,” Salman Khan told reporters.

Aamir Khan feels that of all the Khans (Aamir, Salman & Shahrukh), Salman is the best and number one Khan in Bollywood, has the ability to take a film on his shoulders, and is a bigger star than all the three.

However, there’s no denying that if there’s any Bollywood star who can do the stunts and heavy action scenes like Rajnikanth does, and have the audience clapping to those scenes, its Salman.

Salman may not yet have the kind of dialogues that Rajnikanth has in his repertoire, however in terms of the action scenes and screen presence, Salman is already in a different league compared to other Bollywood stars. Remember the entry scene of Salman in ‘Ek Tha Tiger’? It got the same kind of applause from the audience that you typically see when Rajni sir makes an entry in any movie.

So, if someone has to come close to what Raknikanth does on screen, it surely has to be Salman Khan.
