Ranbir Kapoor starrer ‘Sanju’ is making all the right headlines, and Ranbir, in particular, has impressed everybody. However, after the trailer was released, Salman Khan felt Sanjay Dutt himself should have done the last act in the film.
Race 3 lead actor Salman Khan was curious to know why Sanjay Dutt isn’t playing himself in the last 7-8 years of his life in the film, as Sanjay Dutt himself the best person to do that.
Here’s what Ranbir Kapoor had to say about Salman’s question, “It has never happened that a person played himself in his own biopic. This destroys the effect of a character. I knew that I will be compared to Sanjay Dutt and that is why I have tried my best to do justice to his role. Whether people see me in 40-year old Sanjay Dutt’s avatar or 20-year old, they should feel that they are watching an artist who is playing Sanjay Dutt. It is correct that I cannot become a second Sanjay Dutt.”
In one of the scenes, in the police station, you can see Ranbir go full nude (when he is being interrogated by police). “I went nude in my first film (“Saawariya”) itself when my towel dropped. I am very shy in my real life but when the cameras are on, I am not shy as I am portraying a character so you have to be nude in your emotions and physically,” says Ranbir.
Another interesting trivia which the director Raju Hirani shared recently.
The role of Sanjay Dutt, which is played by Paresh Rawal, was earlier offered to Aamir Khan, but he rejected it. And here’s the reason.
“Aamir is a friend. Whenever I write a script, I just go to him and narrate it to get a reaction from him. So I narrated this script also. Not with the intention of asking him to play any role. He reacted interestingly to the script and liked it. Then just out of greed, I asked Aamir if he would play Dutt saab’s role? He took it seriously and gave it a thought. He said let’s meet after a while. So I met him the next week again, then he showed me Dangal and said” ‘look I’m already playing an older man’s role. And if after Dangal, my next film has me play an older man again, then people will stop giving me a young man’s role!’ That was a valid argument. Finally, we had Pareshji (Rawal) playing Dutt saab.”
Ranbir Kapoor and Rajkumar share interesting facts about Sanjay Dutt’s biopic
Rajkumar Hirani’s fans can finally cheer up; the highly anticipated teaser of Sanjay Dutt’s biopic has been released. The movie will be titled ‘Sanju’.
Ranbir Kapoor’s look for the film had created a lot of buzz among the audience. The movie’s lead actor Ranbir Kapoor said he was amazed by how one man could have “multiple roles”.
“I usually have a very thin frame, so it was hard for me to put on muscles,” said Ranbir Kapoor.
There were many speculations regarding the title of the film, but now the makers have decided to go ahead with ‘Sanju’ as the title of the biopic. Hirani said they thought of several titles. One of the titles was ‘Aisa Hi Hoon’ but they felt it was like an adjective and the team wanted a neutral title. They felt the title ‘Dutt’ was a little harsh. Of all the titles, ‘Sanju’ seemed to be the most non-committal and neutral title for the biopic.
Director of the film, Rajkumar Hirani said, even though Sanju hasn’t seen the movie yet, he has given the go ahead.
In the teaser, you can hear him brag that he had 308 girl-friends. Read: Madhuri Dixit Nene and Sanjay Dutt: Their real story off-screen.
The movie also stars Anushka Sharma, Sonam Kapoor, Dia Mirza, Manisha Koirala, Paresh Rawal, and Vicky Kaushal. The biopic is planned for release on 29th June 2018.
Well, doesn’t matter if you’re a Sanjay Dutt fan or not (or Ranbir Kapoor’s); the fact that the movie is directed by Bollywood’s best director Raju Hirani makes it worth watching.
