Amitabh Bachchan pays tribute to the late Shashi Kapoor

Amitabh Bachchan and Shashi Kapoor worked together in several films in the 1970s-80s – Suhaag, Trishul, Kabhi Kabhie, Namak Halal, Deewar, Shaan, Do Aur Do Paanch, to name a few.

Naturally, over the years, the two went on to forge a very strong friendship.

So when Amitabh Bachchan was informed of Shashi Kapoor’s demise, he took some time to react to the news. In fact, Sr Bachchan didn’t even go to the hospital when told of his friend’s death, just as he didn’t visit him more than once when he was alive and in hospital – because he couldn’t bear to, and because he wanted to preserve the memory of Shashi Kapoor as he had once been.

Big B shared his feelings in a heartfelt post in tribute of the legend. Here are excepts from his post.

  • He fondly addressed me as ‘babbua’ .. and with him have gone many incredible unread chapters of his and my life
  • “how long could I have preserved this exquisite and expensive book of life ; the pages of the book were damaged”
