Bollywood at Venice Film Festival
The Venice Film Festival or Venice International Film Festival is the world’s oldest surviving film festival and features around 11 days of red carpets, parties and premiers. Its definitely among the most prestigious international film festivals in the world. In case you’re in the beautiful city of Venice, and love watching films from across the world, do head to the Venice International Film Festival.
Compared to the other International Film Festival’s (such as the one in Toronto which stars around the same time), the one in Venice feature very limited selection of films.
The screenings usually take place in the historic Palazzo del Cinema on the Lungomare Marconi and in other venues nearby.
Pyaasa to be screened at Venice Film Festival
Pyaasa, directed by Guru Dutt, and starring Guru Dutt, Mala Sinha & Waheeda Rehman is considerd to be an Indian classic film. And the fully restored classic is all set to feature at Venice and will compete with other films for the best restored film. The movie will be screened on September 11 and 12 in the Sala Volpi auditorium.
After Venice, the movie is likely to be screened at other international film festivals, after which it will be re-released worldwide in 2016.
The film is about a struggling poet who’s trying to make his works known in post-independence India, and a prostitute (played by Waheeda Rehman) eventually helps him get his poems published.

Rajini sir at Venice Film Festival
A documentary on Tamil superstar Rajinikanth titled ‘The Love Of Man’, made by a professor at the University of Michigan and a filmmaker in Amsterdam, will be featured at the Venice Film Festival this year.
While Rajinikanth doesn’t require any introduction in India, in fact, in Southern India he’s almost a god, the documentary will provide an opportunity to westerners take a closer look at the Indian superstar.
