For the first time in half a century, the best-selling car in Sweden last year was not Sweden’s own Volvo.

Volvo (now owned by a Chinese company) does still make up the biggest portion of the overall car market in Sweden. The last time the Volvo was not at the top of the new car sales list in Sweden was 1962, the BBC reports.

Volvo, a Swedish car manufacturer based in Göteborg Sweden, was owned by AB Volvo until 1999 when it was acquired by Ford. Volvo was then sold out to Chinese firm Zhejiang Geely Holding Group in 2010, but is still viewed as an iconic Swedish brand.

Volvo losing out to Volkswagen in Sweden may surprise some observers, because of the robust year Volvo had. Volkswagen, in contrast, suffered a massive blow to its reputation due to the emissions scandal.

The Volvo XC90 was seen in 3 Idiots (starring Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor). Remember silencer’s red car in which Farhan (Madhavan) and Raju (Sharman Joshi) travel to look for Rancho? That was a Volvo. Volvo car’s have also featured in other Bollywood films.
