Amitabh Bachchan says the top stars deserve the money they’re paid and tells us why his films won’t make Rs 100 crore.
In recent times, there has been a lot of media coverage about the kind of money the top stars make (Forbes list). And while some filmmakers feel its not fair, Amitabh Bachchan says that the top stars (Salman, SRK, Akshay, Ranveer) deserve every bit of money they’re paid.
People talk a lot about the remuneration that superstars get, but they assuredly get the openings at the box office worthy of the cost.
Lot of Bollywood films make Rs. 30-40 crores at the box office. But there are some movies that make around Rs. 300 crores as well, and these usually feature the top stars. So its but natural that they’re going to be paid a lot more, says Mr. Bachchan.
Big B is also very much aware that his films won’t break into that coveted box office club, and he doesn’t seen to care much about the revenue his films generate at the box office.
So did he never care about how much his films would earn?
Mr. Bachchan says “I probably cared a lot more when I was the leading man because then the responsibility rested on me. When actors charge a certain fee, they must guarantee a certain return and openings.”
Amitabh Bachchan considers himself lucky that filmmakers want to work with him even at this age.
“It is a wonder for me that even at 74, filmmakers still want to work with me. I am fortunate that I can wake up every morning and joyfully go to work.”
