You don’t want your favorite stars to ever get old. If a particular actor leaves his/her stamp in the minds of the audience, then the audience expects to see the actor on screen forever. The guys in Bollywood are more fortunate in that matter, with most of them having a very lengthy career.
Women don’t just have a shorter shelf life, there comes a time when they are torn between their career and the urge to start their own family. Here we take a look at the top actresses, who walked away from their career (when everything seemed to be going just perfectly for them) to experience mother-hood. Fortunately for them, Bollywood currently seems to offer them enough come-back opportunities.
Aishwara Rai Bachchan
Aishwarya was one of the most sought after actresses, not just in Bollywood, but even abroad, when she took a break from films. Ash made her comeback with the film Jazbaa, and said that being a mother helped her relate to the character better.
Madhuri Dixit
Another diva, Madhuri Dixit, who during her hey-days would give even the male actors a run for their money, has two sons – Arin and Raayan. Madhuri was quite clear about starting her own family, despite she being at the peak of her career, when she decided to take a break from her career.
Kajol
Kajol and SRk have given some of the biggest hits in Bollywood, but when Kajol felt that the time was right, she took a break from movies to become a mother. Kajol feels that a mother becomes God for her child. “Because, just like God is responsible for us, his creations, a mother is responsible for her child. Hence, she should be treated with all the dignity and respect possible. What the child becomes as he/she grows up totally depends on what we teach them to be like. It’s a challenge to not make mistakes and moreover, to realize that you’ve made mistakes before it is too late,” said Kajol.
Lara Dutta Bhupathi
Lara Dutta was recntly seen in Singh is Bling (in a funny avatar), although she says that the movie was not really her comeback film. Lara says, “I didn’t want to be torn between family and career. And honestly, I love being a hands-on mother.” When asked as to how had motherhood changed her? She said, “you start caring for someone other than yourself.”
Shilpa Shetty
Shilpa Shetty feels that she became a mother a bit late in life. “I never chose to be a mother at 37. I had always wanted to be a mother at the right age, but I didn’t find Raj at the right time.” Shilpa feels that Motherhood is a beautiful experience and when it happens, other things in life eventually take a back seat.
Shilpa says that there’s a time for everything, and so also for motherhood. And medically too, women should have babies at the right time. “I just didn’t have a choice else I would have been a mother long time back,” she reasoned.
Karisma Kapoor
Karisma Kapoor is another Bollywood actress who’s quite happy raising her family as of now. However, she admits that she’s closely following the developments in the film industry and will take up a film if something concrete comes here way.
Kareena – Saif Ali Khan
Kareena is another actress who’s keen to have her own kids and wants to start a family of her soon. Although she is keen on motherhood, she doesn’t want to push it and is not sure when it will happen.
Kangana Ranaut
Kangana may not be married yet, but she has strong opinions on live-in relationships, marriage and babies. Kangana Ranaut recently said that she is looking forward to motherhood.
