Producer Mukesh Bhatt recently said that even a beggar’s situation is better than that of a producer in Bollywood. He was obviously unhappy with the fact that producers were treated like servants, despite they being the boss who dole out the money to everybody.
He also revealed that the drivers & spot boys of Bollywood star’s make more money than the Chartered Accountants who work on finance-related matters on a film.
“This is the only industry, where the boss pays crores of rupees and is treated like a servant. In any other industry, the man who pays the money gets the salaam.”, says Mukesh Bhatt.
Bhatt feels that people like drivers, spot-boys, costume-assistant (whose only job it is to hold star’s costume), personal trainers should be paid directly by the Bollywood star instead of producers having to deal with them.
So how much are drivers, spot-boys and costume-assistants paid?
Mukesh Bhatt says they are paid anywhere close to Rs 5,000 per day! Multiply by that 20-22 days in a month and you have a figure close to a lakh rupees in a month, which is not at all bad.
So it definitely pays more to be close to the stars’, even if it means being a ‘chamcha’ to them, than work full time.
