After Sushant Singh Rajput’s sad demise, it was stated in the media that he had no financial problems. And even though he did not own properties on earth, it seems he had bought a piece of land on moon.
We all know that Sushant had a passion for space, star gazing and astronomy.
Reports say that Sushant had bought a piece of lunar land on the far side of the Moon; the region is called the Mare Muscoviense, or the “Sea of Muscovy”, and the actor had bought the property through International Lunar Lands Registry.
The only other Bollywood actor, besides Sushant, who had bought a piece of land on Moon is Shah Rukh Khan. It seems a fan had gifted the land to SRK.
Now the question is – “Can humans really buy plot of land on moon”?
Is that legally allowed?
If that is the case, why you don’t see the name of any other Indian celebrity on this list?
There are many other rich celebrities in India, and they definitely have the money to buy land on moon, but they haven’t done so.
So perhaps, there is a catch in these claims (about actors buying land on moon).
And a little research in this matter reveals that yes, there is a catch.
It seems humans cannot legally buy land on the moon!
There are several international treaties in this matter that prohibits humans from buying land on moon. You can read more about the treaty and the US State Department’s explanation of it here: Outer Space Treaty.
So, if you’re a High-net-worth individual (HNI) and planning to emulate these celebrities, I would suggest that you hold on to that money and buy a beautiful piece of land in one of the several scenic places in India.
