
Tesla recently unveiled their new Model 3 electric car as part of their strategy to move the world towards sustainable energy.
Tesla claims the car can travel 215 miles on a single charge. The car will be positioned as a “mass market, affordable car” and will be priced arounbd $35,000 in the US.
Elon Musk, founder and CEO of Tesla Motors, says “We have an amazing product. I think you’ll be blown away. You will not be able to buy a better car for $35,000, or even close.”

Indian entrepreneurs have already begun pre-ordering the car. Vijay Shekhar Sharma (founder of Paytm), venture capitalist Mahesh Murthy, Vishal Gondal (founder of fitness technology company GOQii) and Sujayath Ali (CEO of online fashion platform Voonik) have tweeted about booking the electric car.

As of now, the car is likely to attract 100% import duty in India. However, according to Tesla’s Chief Information Officer, the company has plans to build a manufacturing plant in India.
This Tesla electric car will enter a crowded field of luxury and electric cars that includes models from Audi and BMW, and forthcoming electric cars from Chevrolet.
