An eye campaign video, shot with SRK, is ready to be released, but cannot be released.
NATIONAL Film Development Corporation (NFDC) recently filmed the “Eye Hear You” campaign with Shahrukh Khan to promote awareness about eye ailments like glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy that could lead to loss of vision.
However, the video cannot be shown to the public yet, as the health ministry has not approved it. Shah Rukh had agreed to be part of the campaign for free.
Health Ministry officials say the file related to the initiative was sent to them “at a somewhat late stage” and hence it is “not cleared” yet.
However, a leading newspaper reports a different reason for the delay.
It seems the health Minister was unhappy that he had not been consulted at an earlier stage, and feels that the film could have been shot with someone else.
Officials say that Shah Rukh, whose ‘Raees’ released a month after the film was shot, was not the first choice for the campaign. Instead, the Ministry had originally planned to rope in Hrithik Roshan, who played a blind man in ‘Kaabil’.
However, due to procedural delays (so common in India), the campaign plan could not be finalised on time, and could not be released along with ‘Kaabil’.
That is when the ministry chose to do the campaign with Shah Rukh instead, (however not everybody was in the loop about this, it seems).
“We are not doing the campaign now. There are many things that we plan. We do not always go ahead with all the ten things that may have been planned at any given time. What is the point of talking about a campaign that we are not doing?” Health official.
Hrithik Roshan Pledges to Donate Eyes
Playing the role of a blind person has made Hrithik Roshan realize the importance of having vision, decides to donate eyes.
Although, its a known fact that eyes of dead people can provide vision to the blind (provided the right process is followed), very few in India pledge to donate their eyes.
That is why Hrithik Roshan’s decision to donate his eyes carries so much importance.
With age, people become wiser. And that’s what Hrithik demonstrated a few days back on his birthday. Although he was busy promoting Kaabil, Hrithik took some time out to do this special thing.
Hrithik Roshan pledged to donate his eyes on his birthday – January 10.
Some time back, Dr. S Natarajan, who is chairman and director of Aditya Jyot Eye Hospital, had approached Rakesh Roshan and asked him if Hrithik would pledge his eyes for donation.
To the doctor’s surprise, Rakesh said that Hrithik was already planning to pledge his eyes.
Hrithik says he can now really empathize with those suffering from unilateral corneal blindness, and that is why he decided to pledge his support for donation.
The news was announced around Hrithik’s birthday, so that many more could follow on Hrithik’s footstep. Dr. Natarajan urged people to come forward to donate eyes as India faces lack of donors every year, and cited the example of Hrithik Roshan.
We really hope thousands of people come forward to donate their eyes.
