An India wedding is usually an elaborate affair with lots of celebrations, food, dancing & rituals. Although the rituals are serious affairs, there’s plenty of entertainment otherwise and once on the dance floor, you’re just going to have a blast and see some really funny (& unusual) dance steps.

Here are the various kinds of dancers that you’re likely to see on an Indian wedding dance floor. Remember, most of them don’t dance otherwise, but when it comes to weddings, they don’t mind showing off their unique & amusing dance steps.
Funny dance moves that are commonly seen in Indian Weddings. Can you guess the Dancing Style? Probably not, because most have been innovated on the spot.
Types of Dancers You See on an Indian Wedding Dance Floor
Just Another Ritual
There are some (usually the elderly and related to the couple) who’re happy to see all the guest turn up to give blessings to the couple. You may spot them on the dance floor, but that is because someone just dragged them on the dance floor. They will just raise their hands (like a cricket umpire signalling a six) so that everyone else on the dance floor is happy, and then they will leave the dance floor.
Aunties (& Uncles Too)
Most of the women may be dressed in heavy saris but it doesn’t stop them from showing off their moves on the dance floor. They may start off cautiously but a few Bollywood hit numbers, and they will unleashed the Helen within.
The One Who Dances With Everyone
Everybody remembers dancing with him/her but no one knows who he was. You can safely assume that the dancer is someone related to the bride or the groom and probably has taken care-of all the arrangements at the wedding.
The Bride Gone Crazy
That’s what Bollywood song can do to you. Through-out, the bride tries her best to be all ladylike, but then it just gets too difficult to resist shaking your legs once the DJ plays some cool Bollywood songs.
Dance Just to Get Clicked
Few younger girls (usually the bride’s sisters) are more interested in getting themselves clicked, than dancing. You can see the photographer hovering around them so that she can get some staged ‘candid’ photographs clicked (to share on Facebook.)
The Sharabi
These are the ones who start cautiously, but once they have a few glasses of wine (or vodka) its fun to see them on the dance floor.
