Gold is a sports drama that depicts the struggle of the Hockey team before winning their first Gold medal for free India (on 12th August 1948) at the 14th Olympic games held in London.
Few things you probably didn’t know about that Olympics:
- The 1948 London Olympics was held after a gap of 12 years because of World War II. The previous one was the 1936 Berlin Olympics.
- Legendary hockey player Dhyan Chand, who had retired, was brought back to the Indian team for this Olympics.
- Pakistan also contested this Olympics as a free nation for the first time, and many were expecting an India-Pakistan clash in the final. However, Britain upset Pakistan in the semi-finals and went on to play India in the final match.
- India defeated Britain 4-0 in the finals to win the gold medal.
Most of the shooting of Gold was done in Bradford and surrounding areas in West Yorkshire in the UK.
