After Salman’s Tubelight, Sharukh Khan’s Jab Harry Met Sejal (JHMS) is doing badly at the box-office, and that too despite having the hit pair of Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma.
From here on, JHMS is only going to crawl near the Rs 100 crore mark (similar to as Tubelight) because the word of mouth is also very bad.
It seems movies now won’t run only on star power, they need great content too.
The biggest of stars need a solid story and captivating screenplay to stand on feet, to sprint, to win… Mere star power isn't enough…

Not sure, why Jab Harry Met Sejal distributors are not complaining about losses yet (like the way they did after the debacle of Tubelight).
Perhaps, they paid the right price (after SRK’s Raees also didn’t do well at the box-office).
Jab Harry Met Sejal Review: Great performances, stunning locations, boring & predictable screenplay
The movie has great actors, has been shot at exotic locations in Europe – Prague, Berlin, Holland, Amsterdam. Unfortunately, that’s about it in the movie; Imtiaz Ali gives the movie a similar treatment (as in his earlier movies).
Jab Harry Met Sejal Story
While searching for Sejal’s engagement ring, Harry understands love and relationships better. Sejal experiences new found freedom, and solace in Harry’s company.

OneWordReview… #JabHarryMetSejal: Unimpressive. Good performances… Stunning locales… Bland and boring screenplay… Too many songs. With SRK-Anushka, Imtiaz Ali could’ve hit the ball out of the park with a solid script. Sadly, he loses this golden opportunity.

The script is wafer-thin and it’s been done to death by none other than Imtiaz Ali in each of his earlier films—be it Jab We Met, Cocktail or the recent Tamasha. It’s the routine girl is engaged elsewhere story but she discovers half-way through the film that she is actually attracted to someone else. In this case, Sejal is engaged to Rupen but actually ends up falling for Harry. What makes this film watchable though is the presence of Shah Rukh and Anushka both of who are in top-form in their Punjabi and Gujarati avatars. In fact, SRK is like old wine, the more he matures, the better he loves. But the chemistry between Anushka and him is not crackling for sure.

First half: breezy but unabashedly banal. Second half: riddled with toe-curling romantic mush. Sum total: a journey without maps that weaves concentric circles around sweet nothings and empty prittle-prattle. That, in a nutshell, is Imtiaz Ali’s perambulatory rom com Jab Harry Met Sejal. It leaves you wishing they hadn’t met.Jab Harry Met Sejal is cinema’s equivalent of a shiny bauble that glitters wholly in vain. Watch it only if you fancy a vicarious romp through Europe with an off-colour megastar trying hard to get going.

Jab Harry Met Sejal is a film you want to like but when you see the ‘Babe becoming Babita’ formula repeated yet again, you wonder why a filmmaker, known for his progressive, unusual films succumbs to clichés like this one.I go back to the sublime Rockstar that ended with a Sufi quote – ‘Beyond good and bad, there is a field, I will meet you there’. This film espouses the beautiful thought of ‘Home is a Person’ . Wish the script went beyond these one-liners and took us on a unique journey with a Geet or a Jordan instead of this been-there-done-that European tour.

Censor board bans Jab Harry met Sejal trailer for use of word ‘intercourse’, will lift the ban if 1 lakh pople approve
In the recent mini promo of Imtiaz Ali’s Shah Rukh starrer “Jab Harry met Sejal”, which was released on the internet, actress Anushka Sharma utters the word “intercourse” in one of the scenes and the censor board is not impressed with it.
The promo video has been disapproved by the CBFC for airing on television.
Anticipating criticism from the media and the general public (for not being in tune with the times), Central Board of Film Certification (CFBC) chief Pahlaj Nihalani said he would lift the ban, if 1 lakh people say they are okay with the use of that word in the promo.
“You take voting from the public and I will clear the word (intercourse) on the promo and the film also. I want 1 lakh votes and I want to see that India has changed and Indian families want their 12-year-old kids to understand the meaning of this word (intercourse),” Pahlaj Nihalani in an interview to a TV channel.
The censor board has currently granted a U/A certification to the trailer, on condition of deletion of the intercourse dialogue. “They’re yet to come back to us on that. So in principle, the trailer has not been passed yet,” said Nihalani.
But what about the uncut trailer uploaded on YouTube?
The CBFC currently does not have powers to stop content on the internet. But they will surely stop the broadcast of the uncensored footage on television unless the word is deleted.
Shah Rukh Khan, who could romance a stone, looks rusty. First half keeps you hooked but second half is intense and melodramatic.
