‘Leonardo DiCaprio’ is a big Hollywood star and has worked in several blockbusters like Titanic, Blood Diamond, Departed, and many more. No wonder, he’s got a great fan following in India too.
Almost everybody was happy that Leonardo Dicaprio won; many feel it was long time pending. Bollywood celebrities like Anil Kapoor & Anupam Kher congratulated Hollywood star Leonardo DiCaprio, who finally broke the jinx and took home an Oscar for the Best Actor in a Leading Role for the film The Revenant.
Cheeky comment by Sonakshi Sinha…
I think there was more pressure on the #Oscars to give it to Leo, than on him to win it 😂 either way, he is beyond awesome and im glad!!!!!

Leonardo DiCaprio says The Revenant set was colder than being submerged in the icy waters in the final scenes of Titanic. However, Leonardo does not regret the discomforts of playing the lead role in The Revenant as he feels the movie has really turned out well.
“We knew we weren’t going on a tropical vacation in Hawaii and the Maldives, we were going to be submerged in the wilderness like this. But at the end of the day we have a great piece of art to show for it, so we’re all excited to be here.” said the Hollywood star.
Leonardo DiCaprio vs The Oscars: 2016 Could Be His Year (or Not)?
Did you know that despite being nominated for the Oscar award several times, the Hollywood star Leonardo DiCaprio has not won it even once?

Many feel that the 2016 Oscars could go to Leonardo DiCaprio, and that is why the Internet is suddenly abuzz with several memes of Leo (and the Oscar award alluding him).
Leo Gives His Everything for The Revenant
Method Acting: Adrien Brody famously sold all his possessions and became homeless for his role in The Pianist, while Daniel Day-Lewis talked, talked and walked like Lincoln even off the film’s sets.
May be that’s the reason he gave it all, when filming for the film ‘The Revenant’. To make the scenes of ‘Revenant’ look really authentic, Leonardo shot in biting temperatures, slept under buffalo skin, and even ate real (and raw) Bison Liver. The actor also had to film in tough conditions while filming.

The props guys had come up with an artificial bison liver [for the scene] that was made up of protein bars, and it looked real to the director. But then a few days before the scene, Leo insisted that he would eat a real liver.
“Bison liver would be one of the first things that a real mountain man would eat when he killed a buffalo. He would eat it raw because it was good food for him and nutritious,” said the director.
“When you see the movie, you’ll see my reaction to it, because Alejandro kept it in. It says it all,” said DiCaprio.
What are Leo’s Chances This Year?
Many film analysts believe that The Oscars favour movies where the character’s odds are stacked against him/her (Gladiator, Cast Away, The King’s Speech, Birdman). Revenant depicts a man’s struggle to come out the winner, despite a bear attack and being left to die.
Another US magazine stated that if a film is made to be a blockbuster (and to earn money), something that which filmmakers won’t aspire to create, then it has a lesser chance of bagging the award. So that probably rules out movies like Casino Royale or Star Wars, because such movies inspire studios to make more fantasy franchise instalments.
In case, Revenant wins, it will “be proof that a big budget, adult-skewing, technically superb action drama can be a genuine smash sans franchise attachment or brand awareness thanks to a single prestigious movie star,” it stated.
Why Hasn’t Leo Won Before?
Here are some reasons on why the ‘Titanic’ star hasn’t won an Oscars yet.
Too Pretty / Boyish Look?: As one site put it, “His younger, pretty/party boy reputation still haunts him in (the Academy voters’) eyes.” That sums it up all. In Django Unchained, DiCaprio did try to look ugly, but he still looked like a smouldering Leo with greasy hair.
Does only Intense roles?: Most of his movies depict him in an intense role. Oscar winners, in the past, have showcased their ability to tackle comedy too (Colin Firth in Bridget Jones’ Diary, Adrien Brody in The Grand Budapest Hotel). Leo’s resume misses such roles.
More of Blockbusters: Barring one or two movies, most of Leonardo’s films have been blockbusters. “‘Where’s the drama in that?’ ask The Academy, who love a ‘story’ to go with their Oscar-winners, who love to see films that filmmakers aspire to make. Mickey Rourke had to lose his looks to booze and boxing before he snagged the prize for The Wrestler and Matthew McConaughey’s face was reduced to a rom-com stamp before he made a comeback with The Lincoln Lawyer.
Are they jealous: I’m sure this is what most fans of Leonardo Dicaprio think, and this is the most popular theory (but highly improbable). They feel that the Academy hates Leo because of his reluctance to show any signs of ageing, affinity to 25-and-below models, and lack of scandals.
Should Leo Win the Oscar Awards?
Of course he should. There are many who feel that he should have already won before.
However, on a lighter vein, lot of people have pointed out that the fact that Leo doesn’t have an Oscar award, has become a part of his identity. “It’s one of a million narratives we foist onto celebrities – JLaw the cool girl, Angelina the saint, Bieber the brat. It’s a way to validate our fascination with them. I’m rooting for Leo, but a part of me hopes he doesn’t win. Because if he gets what he wants, the story is over,” one site wrote. But more importantly, nothing brightens a bad day better than the plethora of memes and gifs on him reaching out for a photoshopped Oscar – all of which will cease to have meaning if he does bag the award this season.
