Most songs in recent Bollywood movies are about 5-minute long, some even shorter. However, there are some exceptions where the songs can be much lengthier than the norm, to suit the situation.
Here are some cases, where the recorded songs were much more longer.
Sandese Aate Hai
Music director Anu Malik composed ‘Sandese Aate hai’ song for Border, and the song was over 10-minute long. The song was written by Javed Akhtar, and sung by Roop Kumar Rathod and Sonu Nigam.
Main Kahin Bhi Rahoon
Anu Malik also composed an over 10-minute long song for J.P. Dutta’s war epic LOC Kargil. The song named ‘Main Kahin Bhi Rahoon’ was sung by various singers such as Udit Narayan, Sonu Nigam, Roop Kumar Rathod, Hariharan, Sukhwinder Singh.
The title song in the movie ‘Ab Tumhare Hawale Watan Saathiyon’ (by the same name) is one of the longest Hindi film songs. The song is around 15 minutes and is shown in couple of installments (sung by various singers) in the film.
Baabul Bidaai Song
In Ravi Chopra’s film ‘Baabul’, Richa Sharma sung a Bidaai song, which was around 15 minute long. You can listen to the song here.
Humein to Loot Liya Mil Ke Husn Waalon Ne
Another lengthy hindi film song is the 11-minute Qawwalli, ‘Humein to loot liya mil ke husn waalon ne’ from the 1958 film ‘Al Hilal’, sung by Ismail Azad.
The song has great melody and fantastic lyrics, and is popular with listeners of all ages. There are several remixes of this evergreen song (one even sung by Sonu Nigam) and its a regular during Dandiya (Navratri) every year.
