Palestinian barber uses blowtorch to style and straighten the hair of his customers.
In one of the Golmaal movies, Tusshar Kapoor (a hair stylist) leaves the hot straightener on the hair of one of his customer, and forgets about it, thus burning her hair.
However, Palestinian barber Ramadan Odwan takes it even further. But he’s totally focused on his job.
Ramadan Odwan, who owns a salon in Rafah in Gaza, uses blowtorch to dry hair. Yes, you heard it right! He styles and straightens the hair of his customers using fire.
People here love adventures and they have gone crazy about this latest style craze. Most are just curious to go through the experience, more than how their hair will look in the end. And they are obvious not afraid (well, I’m sure they experience more dangerous situations frequently).
His unusual hair cutting and styling technique attracts a huge crowd, who watch him in action.
Odwan uses a protective liquid coating to the customer’s hair (he declined to disclose its contents) before aiming for the head and pressing the button on a small blowtorch.
“I control how long I apply fire, I keep it on and off for 10 seconds or 15 seconds. It is completely safe and I have not encountered any accident since I started it two months ago,” Odwan added.
Odwan uses the technique to show that Palestinian barbers are as “professional as those around the world. He may not be the first stylist in the world to use flame to straighten hair, but his craft is definitely unique in the Gaza Strip (There are some barbers in India, who use candles to burn their customers’ hair to create a unique style).
I am sure he would love to use the blowtorch on some of our Bollywood stars, if given an opportunity.
