Priyanka Chopra, who celebrated her birthday recently (18th, July), is a self-made global celebrity who no longer needs movies to maintain her stardom. Here’s how she has managed to transition into a world that is least affected by her films.
Priyanka chopra has not worked in many Bollywood films lately and she has also not featured in any memorable Hollywood film, yet her stature keeps on increasing by the day.
Thanks to some bold moves early on in her career such as moving to America (she, along with Kareena Kapoor and Katrina Kaif were facing competition from the younger lot like Deepika Padukone), a thinking mind and some business acumen, Priyanka Chopra has transitioned into a world that is beyond films; her public persona is now what makes her a global celebrity (like Lady Gaga).

Priyanka has not appeared in a lead role (in Bollywood) since Jai Gangaajal (2016). She backed out of Bharat (clearly annoying Salman). Her high-profile Hollywood film, Baywatch, was panned. Her TV show, Quantico, went off air after three seasons (but it did give Priyanka a lot of exposure in North America). She has also done cameos in a few Hollywood films.
Salman Khan may have been upset that Priyanka Chopra backed out of the film “Bharat”, but Priyanka doing or not doing a role is not going to affect her global standing now.
So what exactly is she doing to make this happen?
One of the most important factor is Priyanka Chopra’s social media presence. She has close to 40 million followers on Instagram. She ensures her followers gets a glimpse of her globe-trotting lifestyle every now and then; she shares pictures of everything from vacations with Nick, to family holidays, to her high profile performances. She recently shared an image on Instagram which garnered three million ‘likes’.
Priyanka regularly features on magazine covers (of top publications). She also makes frequent, high-profile public appearances (Vanity Fair Oscars party, the Grammys, the Billboard Music Awards, the Cannes Film Festival, the Met Gala, to name a few).
The actor seems to have a good understanding of how the various industries are related. She now has several avenues, besides movies, that she is leveraging to maintain her position.
