Despite being panned by film critics and the general public (on social media), Race 3 has crossed Rs 160 crore at the box office in India.
RACE 3: An Average Grosser
Salman Khan’s Race 3 is in its second week and the collections are dropping (as is the trend with most movies). The total collection of the film stands at 164 in 11 days. It is unlikely to collect much in the third week as Ranbir Kapoor’s Sanju will release (which has already generated a huge buzz).
Race 3 will turn out to be an average grosser, and some distributors may even face losses.
Bobby Deol who was a guest judge at the Femina Miss India grand finale, defended the movie.
Bobby said: “There are films which are good but sometimes it doesn’t work at the box office. So, how anyone can control that? “I am really happy because people have appreciated the work of the entire cast of the film, including me. I think criticism affects us when we make a bad film, but I think if our film was too bad, then it wouldn’t have worked at the box office.”
RACE 3 review: High on style but low on substance
Race 3 is high on action, has fast cars, fast guns, and good locations, but everything else (script, acting, songs) is average.
There’s a dialogue in Race 3, where Sikander (Salman) says: “Family aur family ke prati loyalty se bhad kar kuch nahin hota.” Well, this doesn’t sound Race, it sounds more like Prem Ratan Dhan Payo. Race franchise is about mind games, but the third film makes it more like a family film.
I am sure Salman fans are going to ignore these comments. But if you liked the earlier Race movies and are expecting Race 3 to be on similar lines, then you could be a bit disappointed.
First half is dull (in terms of story), it picks up pace in the second half. Overall, RACE 3 is high on style but low on substance. The movie may over the weekend due to the presence of Salman Khan, but the business will most likely see a drop in business from there on.

All that glitters is not gold… Remo D’souza misses the golden opportunity! Race3 rests on Salman’s brawny shoulders… Eid holidays + brand value attached to the film [#Race] are huge plusses… But the biggest of films need a strong foundation [content] to stand tall… Unfortunately, #Race3 lacks that power!

To say that the film has a wafer thin plot is an understatement. There’s absolutely no punch or drive in the script and as a result the story of the film just does not involve the viewer at all.But for all its big moments, Race 3 just does not work up the feeling of suspense and intrigue that made the previous masala movies from the franchise a guilty pleasure. This film has a lot of visual appeal but the all style and no substance approach makes this 2 hours 40 minutes film a real drag.
Story
Race 3 is about a wealthy dysfunctional family in pursuit of power and money. Its about a family that deals in crime and their world is full of twists and turns. Shamsher (Anil Kapoor) entrusts Sikandar (Salman Khan) with a high stakes heist but everyone in the family show their true colours. you see a family on the verge of self-destruction – or is it a ploy by some outsiders. Lots of action and drama that leads to an interesting climax.

Salman Khan’s Race 3 will now have to be shot in India
Producer Ramesh Taurani and director Remo D’Souza are happy (and relieved) that Salman Khan has been released on bail, and their film is now in the safe zone.
However, there is one catch.
The film was earlier supposed to be shot at some exotic locations around the world.
The earlier Race movies had action scenes that were shot at great locations around the world, and something similar (in fact more spectacular) was planned for Race 3 as well, considering that it has Salman Khan.
However, after the Jodhpur court verdict, it won’t be easy for Salman Khan to leave India now; there’s going to be a big process of getting approvals if Salman has to travel abroad.
Salman and his producer-director have decided to keep things simple and have decided to shoot the rest of the film in India.

While we are not sure why Saif Ali Khan, who was part of the earlier Race movies, is not a part of Race 3, Remo D’Souza is directing Race 3 because Salman Khan wanted Remo to direct this movie, and he agreed to be a part of Race 3 only on this condition.
Producer Ramesh Taurani has been chasing Salman Khan for several years to cast him in the Race franchise. Remo was earlier set to direct Salman in Dancing Dad but things didn’t work out, and Remo will now direct Salman in Race 3.
Wondering what Abbas-Mustan, directors of the first two Race films, have to say about this development…Obviously, a ‘Kahaani me twist’ for them.
