Raman Raghav 2.0 is a 2016 Indian neo-noir psychological thriller film directed by Anurag Kashyap, based on the life of serial killer ‘Raman Raghav’.
Nawazuddin Siddiqui played the dreaded serial killer ‘Pyscho Raman Raghav’. The movie is based on the true story of Raman Raghav who would mercilessly butcher men & women sleeping on the pavement, at night. The psycho would operate only on the streets of Mumbai.
Raman Raghav was a poor homeless man, and almost all his victims were poor as well. His modus operandi was simple, he would kill his victims when they were sleeping, by hitting them with a hard and blunt object. What raised the police’s concern was that the killings were not for any materialistic gain. Sadly, Raghav had been picked up by the police earlier, but allowed to go for lack of evidence.
Ayushmann Khurrana (of Vicky Donor’s fame) was approached for playing the role of Ramakant Kulkarni, the then Deputy Commissioner of Police – CID (Crime) who eventually caught Raman. However, it was Vicky Kaushal who ended up doing that role.
