More than a definitive docu-drama, the film is a celebration of the master blaster’s really long career, his humility and rooted approach to life.I wiped my eyes when the same footage played inside the theatre, I won’t deny that, but that’s mostly because of the nostalgia attached to my teens. It’s reliving the Sachin magic, not a perfect docu-drama on him. Still enough to bring you to the theatres. We have been doing it for years. Maybe one more time.

For a movie made as a fulsome tribute, the challenge is always going to be to keep someone who is not bananas about the game (which includes your faithful critic) to stay with the film: I did, and enjoyed almost every minute of it, cheering at the World Cup win, blinking back tears at Sachin’s farewell speech, even while asking for more.

Sachin: A Billion Dreams is thankfully not a biopic. This is a documentary not merely about the man with that name, but one narrated by him, one where he tells his own story in his own words. It is not journalistic or incisive or probing. It feels, instead, intimate – as intimate as it can feel, anyway, for a film where an audience claps and cheers alongside those who clapped and cheered live, years ago. Which is to say: it is us today applauding in time with us yesterday.

Sachin: A Billion Dreams is a movie strictly for cricket fans. But then that’s the entire country, including yours truly. At the end of the movie, a fellow journalist told me ‘This is the happiest I have seen you after any movie.’ It’s true because I just watched a good piece of cinema where I became a cricket fan once again, and had relived my childhood. This is easily the best movie on cricket, and whether you are a Sachin fan or not, you will find tears flowing through the sides of your cheeks at the end of the film. Sachin: A Billion Dreams is highly recommended. Just make sure you cheer with the rest of the audience …Sachin…Sachin…!

What makes the movie endearing is a peek into his private life like his love story, footage from his wedding, the birth of his two children and the special bond he shares with his father. The footage might be blurry at times, but you don’t mind as it engrosses you. He might not be an actor but engages you with his story-telling and it’s impossible to be unmoved with his disappointments and achievements. You will be overwhelmed with emotions when you see the clip of him giving the retirement speech in 2013. Sachin: A Billion Dreams will make you feel patriotic in places and it is one of those films that make you leave the theaters with a smile. So, do yourself a favour and watch the movie this weekend. We promise you – your 2 hours, 20 minutes will be totally worth it.
Kamaal Khan (KRK) says Sachin’s film is a Boring, Documentary Film
While cricket fans are enjoying Sachin Tendulkar’s film ‘Sachin a billion dreams’, Kamaal Rashid Khan says that the film is not an entertainer, but a 3-hour documentary made from videos that people have already watched.
So #SachinABillionDreams is made by all old available videos of Sachin, means it's a real documentary of him. Sorry I can't Jhelo it at all.

Although Kamaal Khan did face the wrath of Sachin’s fans for his comments, the fact is that the films promotions have not been able to create the right kind of buzz for the movie. Even AR Rahman’s music for the movie has not been able to strike a cord with the audience.
We will have to wait and watch how the movie fares at the box office.
Sachin a billion dreams is directed by Emmy-nominated filmmaker James Erskine, and the music for the film has been composed by Oscar-winning composer AR Rahman. The movie will release in several languages – Hindi, Marathi, English, Tamil and Telugu.
