An avid star-gazer, Sushant moved to a duplex bungalow in Bandra to get an unrestricted view of the sky.
As per an official who is closely involved in the investigation related to the actor’s suicide, it seems his financial condition is not the reason for his suicide.
Sushant Singh Rajput had moved to a seaside duplex bungalow in BKC, Bandra (E) where he was paying a rent of Rs 2 lakh per month.
What he liked about the bungalow was that it gave him unrestricted access to a sprawling 6,000 sqft terrace which gave him an unhindered view of the sky.
Such was Rajput’s passion for star and moon gazing that he would spend the entire night gazing at stars with a powerful telescope and sets of powerful lenses (which was found in the house). The actor was the owner of an advanced telescope called the Meade 14″ LX600.
“It’s one of the most advanced telescopes in the world and I’m going to be able to see Saturn’s rings through it,” Sushant had said about the telescope.
It seems, as a child, Sushant dreamt of becoming an astronaut and work at NASA.
In 2019, Sushant even shared a video of the training that he took at USSRC (U.S. Space & Rocket Center) as he was going to play an astronaut for his upcoming film Chanda Mama Door Ke. Sharing the video, Sushant had written, “#[email protected] ! “The hatch that opens to the dreams, that which makes you week in the knees(at least 1/6 times:), and then even metaphorically, make you feel over the moon. ——— #Apollo #Lunarmodule #commandmodule #training #astronony #passion #AncientDreams.”
Here’s the video.
“I am playing an astronaut in the film and I just finished training on a simulator this week. Sanjay (the director) has given me around 15 books and eight documentaries, including For All Mankind (1989) that documents National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s (NASA) Apollo mission, to understand the life of astronauts,” Sushant said in an interview.
Because Sushant could not fulfill his childhood dream of becoming an astronaut, he was keen to help kids who had an interest in the subject. The actor had sent a few kids to NASA, one of them even won a gold medal and is now training to become an astronaut.
As per Sushant’s bucket list, he wanted to send many more kids to NASA in US.
In one of his interviews, Sushant had said, “I had done a workshop at NASA when I went there two years ago. Those who trained me had said that if I continued for a few more weeks, I would have received a certificate of instructor. So, now, I am planning to go to Houston to complete the training. It consists of everything that you need to know about going to space, including sitting in the centrifuge.”
The actor even felt he possibly stood a chance of going to the moon.
“NASA plans to send astronauts on the Moon by 2024. I am planning to prepare myself for it, in case I get lucky,” Sushant had said back then. And it seems, Sushant Singh Rajput had also bought a piece of land in the region of Mare Muscoviense, also called the Sea of Muscovy on the moon.
