Now this gong to make people in India really proud, especially those from the science community. A special Screening of Ridley Scott’s ‘The Martian’ (featuring Matt Damon) was held for ISRO Scientists, on Mangalyaan’s first anniversary. ISRO stands for Indian Space Research Organization.
The screening is the studio’s (20th Century Fox) way of congratulating the scientists on the first anniversary of the Mars Orbiter Mission (also known as Mangalayaan, India’s space probe orbiting Mars). The movie is set for release a week later on Oct 2nd.

At the time of writing, India is the only country to get on Mars in its first attempt, and before the movie, Matt Damon appeared in a video congratulating ISRO on Mangalayaan’s first anniversary.

The movie is based on Andy Weir’s novel “The Martian”. The novel is currently selling like hot cakes within the science community in India.
NASA recently announced that, due to the high number of spacecraft orbiting Mars, it was setting up an enhanced collision-avoidance system, to ensure the Mars orbiters do not collide with one another. The system accurately warns orbiters if they come too close to each other.
