So why would an online travel site want to produce a Bollywood film? Because Tourism and films are connected to each other, says Nishant Pitti, CEO and Co-founder of Easemytrip.
Nishant says their expertise in travel and their capabilities to turn any business into a profitable one, gives them an edge. Here Nishant reveals the business sense behind getting into Bollywood, for a travel company.
We wanted to explore other markets beyond travel and realised that there is a lot of potential in the Indian film industry, which has not yet been explored completely.
Tourism and films are inter-connected and both have an impact on the audience, both create memories that you can cherish lifelong. So it was easy for us to make a choice.
In fact tourism through films have a bigger impact if done wisely. For example, Switzerland in Yash Raj films, Spain through Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara and recently Khatron Ke Khiladi on TV.
Easemytrip started their Bollywood journey with Madaari (starring Irrfan Khan) in which they were the travel partners. From there, the company got into the distribution of films, production and now they are co-producing Manikarnika, featuring Kangana Ranaut. “Manikarnika – The Queen of Jhansi” is a historical drama based on Rani Laxmi Bai – Queen of Jhansi.
EaseMyTrip.com were one of the distributors for Jab Harry Met Sejal (Shahrukh Khan), which unfortunately, tanked at the box office.
“The Indian film industry is one of the most popular as well as a promising industry in India. Indian films showcases the Indian culture, values and creativity to the world and they also connect hearts with their content and emotions. Bollywood has also been instrumental in promoting unknown destinations. This is where synergy between Bollywood and online travel portal like us comes. I am glad that travel is an integral part of Jab Harry Met Sejal as well,” says Nishant Pitti.
EaseMyTrip.com is one the top five online travel portals in #India with offices in India, Dubai, Singapore, Thailand, Maldives, Turkey, Russia, Bali and Mauritius.
