Shah Rukh Khan is a superstar in Bollywood, but more than India, he has got a big fan following abroad, including the US. However, it seems the immigration authorities in the US are not aware of Khan’s popularity.
This is because SRK was detained once again by the US authorities (at the Los Angeles International Airport).
- In 2012, Shahrukh was detained at the White Plains airport near New York (for almost 90 minutes). SRK had arrived on a private plane and was on his way to Yale University.
- In 2009, Shahrukh was detained at Newark airport (for almost two hours) and was released only after India’s embassy intervened.
- This is the third time SRK has been detained. It’s not clear yet why Khan was detained and for how long, at the Los Angeles International Airport
Khan tweeted from Los Angeles (and he did sound irritated):
I fully understand & respect security with the way the world is, but to be detained at US immigration every damn time really really sucks.

But soon here realised the need to be more composed, and said that there was a brighter side to the “detention”:
The brighter side is while waiting caught some really nice Pokemons.

An official from the US State Department was quick to release a statement, saying she was “sorry for the hassle”, adding that US diplomats also face this situation.
When addressing the students at the Yale University, Mr. Khan had joked “Whenever I start feeling arrogant about myself, I always take a trip to America. The immigration guys kick the star out of stardom.”
US Embassy Officials have fun enacting iconic Bollywood Dialogues
Employees at the US Embassy in New Delhi recently celebrated seven decades of US and India’s ‘dosti’, and what better way than Bollywood to add some humour and spice to the occasion.
The US Embassy in India released a 90-second video clip titled ‘Bollywood Dreams’ where their officers ‘auditioned’ for a Bollywood movie by enacting iconic Hindi film dialogues.
Some of the famous dialogues included in the clip:
- “Kitne aadmi the?” from Sholay
- “Rishte Me to Hum” from Shahenshah
- “Ek chutki sindoor ki kimat,” from Om Shanti Om
- The famous ‘Ma’ dialogue from Deewar
- The famous ‘English is a funny language’ dialogue from Namak Halal
- and more.
