Dominican Republic (DR), with its breathtaking landscape, ethnic diversity, historical background and a supportive government, is turning out to be a haven for Hollywood, going by the number of Hollywood movies that have been shot in this Caribbean country.
Several filmmakers use the Dominican Republic to depict Cuba in their movies. Robert De Niro had shot several cuban scenes of “The Godfather: Part II” here in DR way back in 1974, and many more movies continue to shoot in the Dominican Republic to depict Cuba.
While movies being filmed in the DR are on a steady climb, its only a matter of time before the other film industries start shooting there.
Although Bollywood filmmakers have not yet shot in the Dominican Republic, Bollywood beauty Deepika Padukone will start shooting in the Dominican Republic for her debut Hollywood film “Xander Cage Returns” opposite Vin Diesel. The film also stars Jet Li and Tony Jaa.
