Filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra reveals he used to have a love-hate relationship with actor Naseeruddin Shah, and the same is now happening with Aamir Khan as well, says Vidhu Vinod Chopra.

Vidhu Vinod Chopra played the part of Dushasana, who dragged Draupadi (played by Satish Shah) to the Kings court. Vidhu was also the production controller on the film.
Naseeruddin Shah and many more actors were part of the cult film ‘Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro’, directed by Kundan Shah and produced by NFDC.
Even Anupam Kher was one of the actors in Kundan Shah’s ‘Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro’, but his scenes got edited from the final version of the film. He played a character called ‘Disco Killer’ who had an eye sight problem.
Vidhu and Naseeruddin have been close friends for more than three decades now, but in their younger days, they had a complex relationship and even got into fist fights.
Most of the actors in Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro were young, hungry, aspirational, angry and trying to prove a point.
“Naseer and Vinod have the most complex relationship in the world. They can’t live without each other. I have seen them get into fist fights. I have come in between and got hit,” revealed director Sudhir Mishra (who wrote the story and the screenplay of the film).
Vidhu confessed, “Maara hai (We have hit each other)”.
Sudhir Mishra also revealed that Om Puri accepted his role without even reading the script. “He (Puri) was at Bandra station going for a shoot. Kundan narrated him the script on the train. He agreed to do the film without even reading the script. On the last day during the ‘Mahabharat’ scene, he told us, ‘yaar ye toh achchi script hai’ (Yaar, this is a good script)”.
Vidhu who has worked with Aamir on a few films now says that he has found his Naseer in Aamir now.
Well, that’s expected. After all, even Aamir Khan has strong opinions on what he likes and dislikes, and several actors/directors find it difficult to get along with Aamir.
So has it reached a point where even they get into fights?
Not yet! My relationship with Aamir Khan hasn’t yet reached to a level of “physical fights” says Mr Chopra.
