The movie ‘Joker’ has taken the world by storm, and it has also helped create a new tourist attraction in the Bronx.
There are several memorable scenes in the movie, but one scene that has been shared widely is the famous stairs scene where Joaquin Phoenix (the lead actor) comes dancing down after having completely transformed. That staircase, where Arthur Fleck (Phoenix’s character) breaks into his devilish dance, is now turning out to be a famous tourist spot in New York City.
These stairs in New York City connect the Shakespeare and Anderson Avenues at West 167th Street in the Bronx. Even though the stairs have been around for years and lead to some of the most famous spots in New York, like the Yankee Stadium, the Bronx Zoo and the New York Botanical Garden, they were never really popular because of their association with a crime in the area.
People have identified the location from the scene and are now visiting the spot, with some of them recreating Joker’s steps on it.
