Bollywood stars like Aamir Khan, Amitabh Bachchan B, Hema Malini, along with several ministers (including chief minister Devendra Fadnavis) and officials from foreign countries managed to escape a major fire that broke out during a lavish cultural show, as part of the ‘Make in India’ event that was held in Mumbai.
See the video below; the fire broke out in the middle of a performance.

Although no casualties were reported, the scale of the fire can be gauged from the pictures that completely gutted the stage. Because the stage was near the beach, the strong breeze helped spread the fire in no time.
Thanks to the volunteers, and the fact that it was an open-air event helped, as the attendees managed to get away from the stage in the nick of time.
“There were over 1,000 people backstage in the green rooms or waiting their turn turn to perform,” said dancer Pompi Mondol. “The wind direction was leading the fire toward where the most number of people were. Some of us had to break the green room and run.”
Most celebrities, including Aamir Khan, later tweeted that the crisis was very well handled by the Mumbai Police, Fire Dept & the Maharashtra Govt.
However, not many people are aware that the Mumbai High Court had earlier denied permission to the authorities to conduct the stage show at that particular location (because of fire hazard), but the state authorities moved Supreme court and managed to get the requisite permissions.
Another case of ‘Chalta Hai’ attitude here? What do you think?
