Panga is a feel-good film and lot of parents can connect with the lead actors in the first half. However, after watching so many sports films in the last couple of years, including Nitesh’s Dangal, the sports scenes look repetitive, especially the training routine, the matches and the climax. It also gets a bit slow in the middle. On the whole, a nice film, while women will adore more.

Panga is the inspiring story of a woman who returns to the sport she abandoned in exchange for domestic bliss. It’s a charming, feel-good film about unconditional love and the true meaning of family. The film is all about its little moments. It fills you with hope and warmth. We could all do with that in these times.

I will take this, if it comes with a film that celebrates a woman trying to reclaim her dream, even if it comes sanctioned by family. The film springs to life when Jaya raises her fist, and slaps her thigh: a ‘panga’ worth taking.

‘Panga’ is a film that honours the endless hours of work that mothers put behind their families and at the same time urges them to never give up on their dreams and to take that second chance. It not only forms an important voice at a time when so many women drop out of the workforce, it is also an extremely well-crafted film. This ode to motherhood and chasing one’s dreams is a must watch.
