Ajay Devgn takes on Saif Ali Khan in Tanhaji The Unsung Warrior trailer; the movie also sees Kajol in a lead role.
Tanhaji The Unsung Warrior has been made on a much bigger scale (compared to Panipat which was released recently), its richer and the climactic battle between Ajay Devgn and Saif ali Khan stands out. The movie does drag at certain places, but overall, this clash between the Marathas and the Mughals is a must watch.
Though the movie is based on a landmark moment in India’s history, the creative team has put lots of entertainment and drama in it, and should appeal to a wider section of the audience. We bet on it to be the first Rs. 100 crore grosser of 2020.

Director Om Raut shows a flair for storytelling in his debut Hindi movie. He maintains a firm grip on the film and balances the emotions and drama with tact. ‘Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior’ scores on various counts – superior performances, powerful action, visual impact, and most of all, it unfolds a story from the pages of history that deserved to be told, with just this kind of intensity, passion and vigour.

In the movie, Ajay Devgn plays the brave Maratha warrior Tanhaji Malusare, who fought the Battle of Sinhagad against Udaybhan Singh Rathod, played by Saif Ali Khan. Maratha leader Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj wanted to recapture Kondhana fort from the Mughals, and Tanhaji took charge of the battle.
In the battle, Tanaji lost his life but ensured victory for the Marathas. Despite the victory, Shivaji Maharaj was unhappy and famously said “gad alaa pan sinha gelaa” which translates to “the fort is captured but the lion (Tanaji Malusare) has gone.” Shivaji Maharaj renamed the Kondana fort as Sinhagad fort in the honour of Tanaji (‘Sinha’ meaning lion).
