Kangana Ranaut came to Mumbai with just Rs.1,500 (20 dollars) but today owns a 5 BHK flat in Mumbai and a bungalow in Manali.
Hailing from a Surajpur, a small town in Mandi in Himachal Pradesh, Kangana Ranaut was born to a conservative family that wanted Kangana to become a doctor. However she had different plans. Her journey started from Himachal to Chandigarh to Delhi and finally to Mumbai, where she finally found success, after struggling at every step.
Mumbai is known as the land of dreams & opportunities, where rags-to-riches stories are common. Though success doesn’t come overnight, for those who’re persistent, Mumbai does help you succeed in the long run.
During her days of struggle, there were many times when her only meal of the day would be bread and pickle. During here early struggling days in the film industry, she used to stay on rent in a single room flat in Versova. But then Gangster happened, and then Fashion, and her stars turned around.
Today, Kangana owns a 5-BHK flat in Khar, Mumbai and a mansion in Manali.
Kangana bought her four-bedroom flat in Khar in 2013, and while it was fully furnished and beautiful, she “broke everything down” because it had no originality.
Kangana also owns a bungalow at Pali Hill, Bandra which she bought for Rs.20.7 crore. The bungalow is surrounded by homes of other big celebrities of the film industry. The bungalow has ground plus three-storey structure, which she uses as her office. Along with the bungalow, the actor has also got a 565 sq ft car parking space.
Kangana is aware of what she started with and that’s the reason she’s not afraid of hitting rock-bottom again, and doesn’t feel any added pressure as an actor.
Says Kangana, “What difference can it make? We outsiders don’t carry that much pressure, as we come from a non-film background. We’ve already achieved a lot. I came to Mumbai with `1500. Like everyone else, I want to keep doing well, but I don’t have a fear of hitting rock bottom. I’ve lived in Mumbai, made a home here and survived in a rock bottom condition for 10 years of my life. So I have no fear of anything. Having said that, it’s not at all frightening for me because I have good projects with me. That puts you in an easy place.”
