Haji Ali Dargah in Mumbai (located at Haji Ali) is a monument of faith that is crowded with people all year round. Its one of the most popular religious places in Mumbai, visited by people of all religions alike.
It was built in the year 1431 by a rich Muslim merchant Haji Ali. It is located on an island off the coast of Worli. The dargah is one of the most recognisable landmarks of Mumbai.
Its also one of those locations which have been featured in movies several time. The location is indeed beautiful but many actors also believe that it brings them good luck, and so are keen to have a shot of the dargah in their movies. If not at the dargah, filmmakers film the scene in such a way that the dargah is at-least visible in the background.
Movies Shot at Haji Ali
All of Emraan Hashmi’s films have included a scene shot at Haji Ali, and it has always worked in his favor spelling magic at the box office earning him the name ‘Hitman Hashmi’. Ever since the actor has always considered the location lucky.
Emraan, who regularly visits the iconic Haji Ali dargah to seek blessings before any big project, considers the place to be quite lucky for him. No wonder, he makes every attempt to convince the filmmakers to shoot a few sequences of the film there, in case it isn’t part of the script (Emraan asked his director to shoot a few scenes at this location for his upcoming ‘RAJA NATWARLAL’).
Ajay Devgan and Vidya Balan came here to shoot Rajkumar Santoshi’s Halla Bol — one of the few films that has attempted to explore the underbelly of Bollywood. A portion of a song that comes in the pre-climax of the movie was filmed at Haji Ali.
