Bollywood Stars Love to Holiday Here
That’s right! Most Bollywood stars rush to Maldives with their family for holidays. Bollywood celebrities love the beach, preferably overseas (to get some privacy I guess, though its never guaranteed). Besides, Maldives is also one of the hottest destination for New Year Party!
Bollywood hunk Hrithik Roshan was spotted holidaying with his sons Hrehaan & Hridhaan in the Maldives.

Kareena Kapoor & Saif Ali Khan, with family, holidaying in the Maldives.

Uday Chopra and Nargis Fakhri (alleged couple) were spotted holidaying on a beach in Maldives on the New Year’s eve.

Sridevi was recently in Maldives with producer-hubby Boney Kapoor and her two daughters Jhanvi & Khushi to celebrate the year end. The hawa-hawai girl spent the last few days of 2013 with her family in Maldives.

Few years back, Saif Ali Khan & Kareena Kapoor were also here on holidays (after completing the shooting for Tashan).
Amitabh Bachchan celebrated his 75th birthday in Maldives, along with his family. Here are some pictures (some of them were shared by Abhishek Bachchan).
Bachchan, his son Abhishek, daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai, granddaughter Aaradhya, daughter Shweta and her daughter Navya Naveli were in Maldives to celebrate the occasion. “They rang in the birthday at their private beach with crackers and a huge cake, and later indulged in a variety of water sports from jet skiing to sailing. A yacht party was also arranged”.
Maldives: Bollywoods’ Favorite for Movies & Holidays
Tourism is an important sector for Maldives and a major revenue earner for that country. They do understand the importance of wooing Bollywood film-makers to their country, and also the importance of promoting their country to the affluent middle-class segment of India.
The Maldivian government is serious considering developing their islands as studios to attract more Bollywood film producers and directors.
They’re sure that Bollywood can be used to promote Maldives in the same manner as has happened in Seychelles and Mauritius.
The advantage Maldives has is that most Indian superstars (Shahrukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan and Amir Khan) are already convinced about the potential of this island country as prospective shooting locations.

Katrina Kaif’s sizzling pictures from Maldives, where she was shooting for a magazine.
Most of her movies in the recent past may have failed to sizzle the box-office, however Katrina Kaif still happens to be one of the most sought after celebrities in the industry.
More importantly for her fans, Katrina Kaif (after remaining elusive for long) has finally opened up to the social media by posting some gorgeous photos from Maldives. She even shared a stunning picture of her, flaunting a bikini.
Katrina Kaif was in Maldives for a photo shoot for Harper’s Bazaar Bride India. Manish Malhotra was the designer for the photo-shoot (and it happened to be his birthday).
Manish also posted a couple of pictures of the svelte actress, rocking a black bodysuit, resting against the designer.
Maldives Loves Bollywood Too
The country doesn’t have a lot of cinema halls, so the locals watch their favorite actors on cable television, where they have access to both the latest flicks as well as old Hindi films.
Even the ‘saas-bahu’ sagas are quite popular among Maldivians, especially women.
The Maldivian language sounds somewhat like the languages of North India; no wonder that Maldivians like to watch Hindi movies and listen to Hindi songs.
In fact, there are several popular Maldivian songs that are based on Hindi tunes.
People here love to listen to old songs of Mohammad Rafi, Mukesh, Lata Mangeshkar, and Asha Bhonsle.
Maldives Tourism
Maldives, with its crystal-clear blue skies and white coral beaches, makes a picture-perfect romantic destination for weddings, honeymoons, and couples, who were celebrating their wedding anniversary. Its also a great destination to usher in the New Year.
Tourism is one of the largest sources of income for Maldives; it plays an important role in earning foreign exchange revenues and also in generating employment within the country. The archipelago (cluster or group of islands) of the Maldives is the main source of attraction to many tourists visiting the country worldwide.
