Munnar is one of the most famous holiday destinations in India, located in the Idukki district in Kerala. Its also known as the Kashmir of South India, and one of the most beautiful places in the south.
Its essentially a tea town, with most of the tea plantations now owned by the TATA Tea Company.

Munnar Tea Plantations
Munnar used to be the summer resort of the British government in South India. This place has sprawling tea plantations, picture-book towns and beautiful lakes. Besides tea, you also have plantations of coffee, cardamom and other spices.

The beautiful Devikulam Seetha Devi Lake with picturesque surroundings is located 16 Km away from Munnar (towards Thekkady).

Seven Mallay Bungalow
Located by the side of the hill named Seven Mallay or Lord Shiva’s mountain, the SevenMallay or Parvathy Estate Bungalow is a beautiful British bungalow located in the pleasant ambiance of Munnar, Kerala.
This is the bungalow shown in the movie Nishabd where Jiah Khan comes to spend her vacation and in turn falls in love Big B.

There are other good places around Munnar such as kodaikanal, coorg, thekkady, Kumarokom; if you’ve time, you can cover all these places when visiting South India. But if time is a constraint, just go to Munnar. Nothing beats Munnar for its scenery and its ambiance; its a perfect honeymoon destination.

Munnar is famous for its tea plantations, dense forests and wildlife sanctuaries. The Tata Company has even set up a tea museum here. When grown at a high altitude, like Darjeeling (Assam) or Munnar (Kerala), the tea leaves produce fascinating flavors, which makes them so popular around the globe.
Munnar also has the highest peak in South India, Anamudi (2695 meters) which makes it an ideal spot for trekking.
The other main attractions in Munnar are the Eravikulam national park (you can sight Tigers, Leopard, Langur, Elephants, Sambars, Nilgiri tahr and many other animals.) You can also do trekking and try out adventure sports at Anamudi peaks and at places within the Eravikulam national park. Chinnar wildlife sanctuary, pothamedu, devikulam, kuthumkal waterfalls and echo pint are some of the other main attractions in Munnar, Kerala.
