Shocking: Sridevi no more (1963-2018), just when her second innings had taken off
Sridevi died of accidental drowning in bathtub after having alcohol in Dubai (earlier it was reported she had died of cardiac arrest). She was in Dubai to attend nephew Mohit Marwah’s wedding. Her elder daughter Janhvi Kapoor did not accompany Sridevi in Dubai; she is currently shooting for her debut Hindi film Dhadak (remake of hit Marathi film Sairat).
Her untimely death has shocked her fans as well as her colleagues from Bollywood and the Indian film industry.

Popularly hailed as the first female superstar of Hindi cinema, the veteran actor was married to film producer Boney Kapoor with whom she had two daughters – Jhanvi and Khushi.
Saddened by the untimely demise of noted actor Sridevi. She was a veteran of the film industry, whose long career included diverse roles and memorable performances. My thoughts are with her family and admirers in this hour of grief. May her soul rest in peace: PM @narendramodi

Sridevi was last seen in MOM, with Akshay Khanna & Nawazuddin. Sridevi had worked in films such as Mawaali (1983), Tohfa (1984), Mr India (1987) and Chandni (1989).

Tamil movie Moondru Mudichu (1976), starring Kamal Haasan, was Sridevi’s first film as a leading heroine. She debuted in the industry as a child actress. Later, Sridevi and Kamal Haasan co-starred in Tamil films like 16 Vayathinile and Guru. Hindi film Sadma (1983), remake of Tamil Film Moondram Pirai, is considered to be one of the best films of Sridevi and Kamal Haasan’s career.
Have witnessed Sridevi's life from an adolescent teenager to the magnificeint lady she became. Her stardom was well deserved. Many happy moments with her flash through my mind including the last time I met her. Sadma's lullaby haunts me now. We'll miss her
