On the eve of Teachers’ Day, All sorts of teachers captured on Bollywood films
On the occasion of Teachers’ Day, we take a look at Bollywood films that showed us some very interesting teachers/professors/gurus.
Ram Shankar Nikumbh (played by Aamir Khan) in Taare Zameen Par was indeed an inspiration. The role perfectly demonstrated how teachers should teach their students. Unfortunately, its difficult to come across such teachers in real life who would really take so much efforts to help one student (Darsheel Safari in the movie).
SRK in the movie ‘Chak De’ played a coach to the women’s hockey team; he showed how to get the best out of your students, and how to make them work as a team
V Shantaram directed ‘Do Aankein Barah Haath’ (black-and-white film and considered to be one of the classics of Indian cinema) shows how a progressive warden (Do Aankein refers to his watchful eyes) rehabilitates the lives of six convicted murderers (barah hath or 12 hands). The film shows how a mentor with belief and conviction could reform even the hardest of criminals.

Vinod Khanna in Imtehan: One of the most encouraging teachers of all times, Pramod Sharma, leaves everything to become a professor and show path to not only his students but also his partner, Madhu.
These are the teachers, whom students dread. More often than not such teachers are usually the principals. Everyone loved Virus (Boman Irani) in 3 Idiots and Dr Asthana in Munnabhai MBBS; they perfectly depicted the headmaster that students in schools/colleges dread the most.
In the movies, Chemistry teacher Sushmita Sen (Main Hoon Na) and Economics teacher Chitrangada Singh (Desi Boyz) raised the heat inside the classroom. When you have teachers like these, no one is going to bunk the class, but can students really focus on what’s being taught?
