Gold Coast in Australia might be one of the most expensive destinations in the world, however that doesn’t stop out Bollywood filmmakers from shooting there, if the location really adds character to the film. If a filmmaker wants his/her movie to look swanky, this is one of the foreign locations which they do consider for filming.
If you want to see sun, sand, and surf, then there are very few places that can match the Gold Coast in Australia. Its an extremely popular tourist destination (worldwide) with some amazing beaches, water parks, food and lot more.
Australia’s food and wine, nature, unique wildlife, aquatic experiences are a perfect combination of an ideal holiday destination. I look forward to inspiring more Indian travellers to visit. I have had such a great time travelling around Australia during my visits. It’s just been an instant connect with the destination and the people, and advocating it has really been effortless,” says Parineeti, who is the first Indian woman ambassador of the “Friend of Australia” (FOA) advocacy panel by Tourism Australia.
Parineeti Chopra Promotes the Gold Coast (Australia)
Bollywood actress Parineeti Chopra has been called in by Tourism Australia and Tourism and Events Queensland to promote the Gold Coast to her whopping 30 million followers on social media. Chopra spent a few days in the Gold Coast sharing photographs of herself whale watching, visiting theme parks and dining out to attract tourists from India.
This rock, so majestic, it's 9 km all around & everything falls silent in front of it. WOW! #BucketList-✅ @Australia @AusOutbackNT#Uluru pic.twitter.com/SNta9qehGb

Bollywood Movies Shot in Gold Coast, Australia
In recent times, Bollywood movie ‘Shaadi Ke Side Effects’ (meaning the Side Effects of Marriage) was shot here.

The movie had Farhan Akhtar and Vidya Balan in it, and a song was filmed in this part of the world. In the song you can see Surfers Paradise beach, koala cuddling at Dreamworld, a romantic hot air balloon ride and a trip in a cadillac in the Gold Coast hinterland.
Here’s the song “Tumse Pyar Ho Gaya” from ‘shaadi ke side effects’ that was shot in this location.
Earlier, ‘Singh is Kinng’, a slick action comedy featuring Akshay Kumar, was shot in the Gold Coast & Brisbane (the crew was here for close to two months).

Did You Know?
Akshay Kumar is known for his fitness, and when they were shooting in Gold Coast, he decided to use the elevators instead of taking the stairs. So what’s the big deal? Well, the crew were staying in Q1 (Queensland Number One), one of the tallest residential towers in the world. So basically, Akshay Kumar would climb 78 floors up and 78 down regularly, and that too despite their rigorous shooting schedule. And because good things always rub on to other people, soon you had actress Neha Dhupia and other unit members taking the elevators instead of the stairs.
Of course, the Queensland Tourism Industry is trying to capitalize on this incident, in order to get more Indian visitors to this place. After all, Bollywood boasts of a worldwide audience of about 3 billion people, so you just cannot ignore it.
