When Ranveer Singh and Siddharth were Trending on Social Media
Ranveer Singh and Siddharth (Rang De Basanti) were both trending on social media some time back, and the reason was Siddharth wrote a strongly-worded tweet dismissing Ranveer’s ad (for a clothing line) for being sexist.
The ad with the tag line ‘Don’t Hold Back. Take Your Work Home’, shows Ranveer Singh dressed in office wear with a woman over his shoulder, watched by a grinning butler on the side.
Danish fashion brand Jack and Jones’s ad campaign has been widely criticised for being sexist and offensive and is facing the ire of consumers on social media.
Rang De Basanti actor Siddharth led the outrage by tweeting ‘a new low for women’s rights at the work place.’

Most Twitter users agreed with Siddharth!
Ranveer Singh on his part said that ‘the ad is not malicious.’
Jack and Jones is a Danish fashion brand. Because of the negative publicity, the clothing brand decided to pull down the ad.
@Actor_Siddharth We didn't intend to offend anyone with one of our billboards. #NOTHOLDINGBACK and withdrawing it immediately.

Milind Soman and Madhu Sapre Go Nude
In 1995, supermodels Milind Soman and Madhu Sapre created a huge controversy by going full nude for a print advertisement (for Tuff shoes). While sexually charged advertising campaigns are common nowadays, back in 1995, it wasn’t the case.

Bipasha Basu and Dino Morea
Today nobody remember Calida, the Swiss innerwear brand, but people do recall the controversial ad (1998) featuring Bipasha Basu and Dino Morea for the company. The ad was eventually banned after women organisations criticised the ad claiming a couple’s private moments should not be shown in public.
In the print ad, you can see Dino Morea pulling off Bipasha Basu’s underwear with his teeth.

Kangana Ranaut in ‘Stuck On You’ Campaign
While this ad cmapign was not controversial as the Milind soman-Madhu Sapre ad, it did turn heads for its boldness. I am sure the first thing you will notice now in the ad is Kangana Ranaut.
This was in 2008, Kangana was part of the Levis’ ‘Stuck On You’ campaign.
