Deepika Padukone is one of the leading and one of the most sought after Bollywood actresses, she’s also among the highest paid actresses in India.
And now Deepika has got into film production as well.
“I’ve turned producer because I want to enable some of the films that I do. Sometimes you want to have more skin in the game; you want to be more involved.”
Padukone’s production house Ka Prods has produced “Chapaak”.
Deepika says ‘Ka’ in Egyptian basically means a soul. “It is the spiritual part of your being that gets left behind after you’ve gone. That’s what I’m aiming to do with the films that I do, either as an actor or as a producer or as actor-producer – leave behind a body of work that people would want to revisit over and over again.”

While Deepika is not willing to take up film direction and admits that she has a limited understanding of the technical aspect of filmmaking, she feels that she has a personality that is more suitable for a film producer kind of role.
“I like to organise, put things together and make things happen,” says Deepika.
Another reason for becoming a producer, is that she wants to make films that are closer to her heart. Something like ‘Chapaak’, ‘Piku’ & ‘Tamasha’.
“I don’t want to be a producer because I want to make money,” says Deepika. Well, she doesn’t have to; we’re sure she’s making loads by just acting in films.
We also hope that Deepika Padukone is not under some kind of peer pressure, considering that her peers (ladies) have already turned producers.
