Australian man dragged to safety after being trapped for five hours in a boggy dam, Daniel Miller only had his eyes and nose above the water line, thanks his yoga position for saving his life.
Daniel Miller was working with an excavating machine in a dam on his remote property when the ground gave way, and the very next moment he was trapped in the muddy bog.
In no time Miller sank into the muddy bog up to his nostrils. However, the gritty Aussie managed to keep his nose above water for a few hours.
“I arched my back to breathe and kept my head up above water using my arms—I guess it was the cobra position.”

A neighbor eventually heard Miller’s cries for help and called for assistance. Rescue crews said he is indeed very lucky to survive. While the crew say that his ordeal lasted two hours, Miller’s wife, Saimaa, wrote on Facebook that his ordeal lasted five hours. Miller was later treated for hypothermia and minor back injuries.
“It was literally sheer mental strength and determination to survive that got him through,” says Miller’s wife. Miller, however, says his yoga position saved his life.
